Fabulous Sunday Roast and Cakes
Walked over some muddy hills with friends, their family and a dog and was delighted to receive warm and friendly welcomes and service at this little gem of a place. A well priced option of beef, chicken or roast pork with plenty of fresh vegetables was extremely good. Followed up by a gooey massive slab of chocolate cake - I’m sure it’s popular all week round with a wide ranging menu and nice atmosphere. Also dog friendly although our muddy hound had to wait outside with a bowl of water and look through the window 😀
Fabulous way to celebrate
Held our annual badminton club lunch here. Great food, lovely atmosphere and our waitress, Lizzie, was fantastic. Attentive but not fussy and good fun. We all loved it

Popped in here with old school friends for lunch last month , staff friendly food amazing. Setting very rustic. Will definatly return
We called in here on our way home from holiday near Bridport, our dog was allowed in, and my hubby enjoyed his Eggs Benedict, I wanted the Dorset granola but there was initially apparently, but they soon sorted it out with some cherry fruit too, very nice
A great lunch. Staff magic and food great. I have however placed a full review on the Craft Centre Site. The receipt calls it Broadwindsor Craft Centre thus I did my review at this location.
Cream tea hit the spot
Unexepected visit to this restaurant as a cafe in Beaminster was shut. Ordered cream tea, had a choice of fruit or plain......should never be served with fruit in, also had choice of jam so chose strawberry. The scones were huge so took half of it home. Very enjoyable afternoon tea in lovely surroundings. Staff pleasant.
Great meal on a rainy day!
This restaurant is fantastic, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is great, good portions, reasonable prices! I had the Chicken and Bacon Pie (daily special pie), which was delicious! The Ham, egg and chips is great as well!
Marvellous morning coffee. Scrummy afternoon scones.
The décor is quirky and comfy. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. The service is friendly and fast.
We popped in for a drink before a long hill walk – the coffee was excellent, with a very tasty piece of homemade fudge as an extra treat.
Much later in the day, we returned, soaking wet and bedraggled, but we were still made very welcome. The superb scones and the strong tea were perfect. And the prices are very reasonable.
Thanks to all concerned.
Came for Sunday lunch, and we were not disappointed. Beautifully presented, lovely amount of veg, staff very attentive, a little more meat would have been nice, but we would definitely come back soon. Couldn’t fit in a sweet, so bought a cream tea for two in a box, also excellent. Well done.
Sunday lunch with the wife and mother-in-law. Booked a table over the phone that morning. Young lady on phone was pleasant and helpful.
Arrived and was greeted nicely and shown to table while my wife and MIL had a look round the shops.
Atmosphere was nice, two young lady’s behind the till were very nice and helpful.
The older gentleman who brought the food out was nice and chatty and exchanged pleasantries.
The food - I and MIL had the pork, wife - the beef. The presentation was excellent, taste was lovely, nice bit of crackling (on request) veg was lush and Yorkshire pudding didn’t explode when prodded with a fork. So all round, excellent service and quality. Recommend for Sunday lunch, weekday snacks. Well done all involved at saddle stones, it was great to see staff old and young working in harmony and getting it right ! 😁
Keep up the great work
